ARTSERVE MICHIGAN SELECTS MARKETING COMMITTEE FOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A marketing committee of top area professionals has been
selected by ArtServe Michigan to promote its 23rd Annual Governor’s Awards for Arts
& Culture (The Guvvys), to be held November 13, 2008 at the Detroit Institute of
Arts (DIA). The announcement was made by Neeta Delaney and Jennifer Goulet of
ArtServe, a statewide nonprofit organization focused on the arts and culture of
Michigan.

The event committee is comprised of:
• Nettie Boivin of BrainGain
• Deidre Bounds of Brogan & Partners Convergence Marketing
• Rich Harshbarger of Detroit Media Partnership
• Ellen Hill Zeringue of the Detroit Tigers
• Tim Smith of Skidmore, Inc.
• Don Tanner of Tanner Friedman Strategic Communications

The 2008 Guvvys is a two-day celebration that includes a November 13th awards
gala—Michigan’s largest and longest running awards event—recognizing leaders in arts
and culture. A November 14th Student Event will provide middle and high school
students the opportunity to explore creative career options through a talk-back
session with the International Award recipients and hands-on workshops.

In total, 22 artists, arts and cultural organizations, arts educators and civic and
business leaders from across the state of Michigan will be named as Guvvy honorees
for their dedication to arts and culture, within 10 different categories, including:
International Achievement Award; Arts Advocate; Civic Leader; Non Profit Arts and
Cultural Leader; Arts and Cultural Organization (over and under $1 million);
Exemplary Business; Michigan Artist Lifetime Achievement; Michigan Innovative
Artist; Arts Education Organization; and Arts Educator.

“Michigan is a state with incredibly gifted individuals and organizations dedicated
to the advancement of arts and culture within their communities and the state,” said
Neeta Delaney, President and CEO of ArtServe Michigan. “Through The Guvvys, we can
reward their exceptional artistic talent, creativity and innovation.”
