DirectRooms.com – The Folk Festival return to Stratford during 2 to 4 September 2011

DirectRooms.com welcomes the return of the Folk Festival to Stratford upon Avon. The Stratford upon Avon Folk Festival is one of the oldest such events in the UK and this year, after an absence of 50 years, the Festival is set to return to Stratford from 2nd September to 4th September.

The festival organisers are keen to provide a chronological link between the folk music exponents of the 21st Century and those who brought the genre to prominence in the 60s and 70s. Therefore, the festival line up will include those music stalwarts Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick and new talents such as Karen Tweed and Louise Jordan. The festival will not be restricted to traditional English Folk music as Celtic, Scandinavian and French traditional music will also be performed.

The final day of the festival will have a performance by the ‘No1 Ladies Accordion Orchestra’. The orchestra is famous for its arrangements of such diverse performers as Stevie Wonder, and wonderfully vibrant demonstrations of Irish and French folk music

Stratford upon Avon is already a famous tourist venue and there are many hotels in Stratford upon Avon where the festival visitor may wish to stay. The town is the birthplace of William Shakespeare.

The concerts take place during the day as well as during the evening. The two venues are Stratford upon Avon Civic Hall and Stratford upon Avon Town Hall. Tickets can be bought for all concerts or individually.
